Botond Storcz was chosen team manager of the year for his work with the national kayak and canoe teams.

The male athlete of the year is gymnast Krisztián Berki, who won his third world title in the pommel horse event after 2010 and 2011.

The 29-year-old reigning Olympic champion also won a European silver medal this year.

The Gyõr women’s handball team was elected the team of the year, winning the accolade for the second consecutive time.

The 25-year-old Hosszú, who also won the title last year, set five world records this year.

She was European champion in the 200- and 400-metre individual medley events and in the 100-metre backstroke.

She won 69 medals, 51 of them gold, in the World Cup short course series and also triumphed on aggregate.
