Hungary’s Only Sailing World Champions Win Eleventh World Title
The two-man team comprised of Hungarians Szabolcs Majthényi and András Domokos has won its eleventh World Championship gold medal at the ISAF Flying Dutchman World Championship in Sydney, Australia.

Defending their title as world champions, the Hungarians came first in every single one of the initial six races and despite a sixth position would have been sufficient on Wednesday, they won both the first and the second Wednesday race.

With their eleven gold medals and further five silvers, the Majthényi-Domokos pair is by far the most successful in the non-Olympian sailing boat class.

The eleventh World Championship title for the sailors, who compete for Balatonföldvár’s Spartacus VE team, means that they are now one-to-one with Denmark, although the Scandinavian country won its eleven first places with several different teams.

As for the further Hungarian contestants, János Ziegler and Csaba Polgár came seventh, András Süli and Dávid Papp eleventh, while Gábor Gáborjáni-Szabó and Balázs Czeizel finished in eighteenth place in the 47-boat field one race prior to the closing of the event.

Positions before the ninth, final race:

1. Szabolcs Majthényi, András Domokos 9 placement points
2. Enno Kramer, Ard Geelkerken (Dutch) 21
3. Kilian König, Johannes Bracj (German) 54
… 7. János Ziegler, Csaba Polgár 99
