Hungary’s UN Ambassador Presents Credentials
Katalin Bogyay, Hungary’s new permanent representative in the United Nations, presented her credentials to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in New York on Tuesday. Hungary is committed to the UN’s efforts and considers it important to take an active part in them and promote a dialogue between the member states, she said.

The ambassador stressed that the post- 2015 objectives of sustainable development, defined through complex diplomatic negotiations, should be “translated” into plain language so that the public become aware of the significance of their implementation, she said.

Bogyay called it her personal mission to protect people in peril and a disadvantage, including women, mothers and children -  an area she has dealt with for several years. She noted that on Monday the Hungarian contributor to a special Security Council session had emphasised Hungary’s duties towards national and ethnic minorities, and the need to promote cultural and linguistic diversity.
