Orbán Praises Hungarian Jews’ Readiness For Sacrifice In WW1
The readiness of Hungarian Jews to make sacrifices has helped Hungary revitalise itself time and again, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said at a ceremony on Monday to inaugurate refurbished WW1 graves in the Kozma Street Jewish cemetery.

Orbán said that it is a moral obligation to carry out research into existing graves and to set up a database to “preserve the names of first world war heroes”.

The road from the comradeship with Jews in WW1 to the concentration camps of WW2 is incomprehensible, Orbán said.

President of the Federation of Jewish Communities in Hungary, András Heisler, said the recent renovation of the plot in the cemetery also serves as a reminder that Hungarian Jews have been a part of the nation for centuries.
