Hungarian Cabinet Needs Ad Tax Revenue – PM Orbán
The cabinet cannot do without revenues from the new advertising tax, Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said in his interview on Kossuth Rádió Friday morning. He described the extent of the tax rate as a technical issue.

Earlier reports indicated that the government expects to receive Ft 7-10 billion from the tax this year.

Alluding to remarks by Lajos Simicska on the advertising tax, Orbán said he cannot enter into a dispute, as “we have ten million people to deal with, and compared to that the question of who speaks in what style and what he says and that he does not like to pay taxes is of secondary importance”.

Meanwhile, Bisnode, an international credit rating agency, said nearly half of Hungarian media companies are losing money, therefore another tax burden could mean the end of them.

The Hungarian Advertising Federation is requesting talks with the cabinet about the changes.
