Budapest’s Construction Fair Attracts 50,000 Visitors
By Christian Keszthelyi: Budapest’s annual construction fair Construma, which came to a close yesterday, attracted almost 50,000 visitors this year, according to organizer Hungexpo. The fair showcased a record number of 550 exhibitors from 15 countries in a total area of 18,000 sqm at the Hungexpo complex.

At the opening ceremony Béla Glattfelder said that the Hungarian government is planning new tenders for European Union funding as soon as possible in order to boost orders in the construction sector.

Funding will also be made available for the renovation of private flats, which he says is a novelty. The state secretary noted that the government plans to renovate 700,000 flats in the coming years in order to create approximately 40,000 construction industry jobs.
