'A View From The Street', Budapest, 3 - 5 June
Coming to Budapest in June, A View From The Street, is a unique collaboration between Berlin-based musician Geordie Little and Australian director, Mike Williamson, that offers a rare glimpse of life through the eyes of a busker. For the audience, it is a thoroughly immersive artistic experience.

Williamson’s film breaks down the perceived barriers between performer and audience, with re-enactments of actual events. Shot specifically for the show, it focuses on Geordie’s unique percussive acoustic finger and lap style and compositions.

“The film was originally just a way of showing the audience what really happens on the street,” Little explained, “but it became so much more than that. It pulled the audience into the performance, turned it around and shone the spotlight back on them.”

The award winning show premiered at Adelaide Fringe Festival 2014, travelled to Berlin and Amsterdam, receiving consistent praise from critics and audience.

*HIGHLY RECOMMENDED* UK Fringe Review (Adelaide). – “As soon as Geordie began to play his unique talent mesmerized the entire audience, just like the passing audience on the screen. Everyone was captivated by the incredible layering of sounds, chords, melodies and percussion.”

“This is a very clever piece of live performance, using film with humour and unique style. I thoroughly enjoyed it and its mood and effect are still with me...” Read Paul Levy’s rave review of Geordie’s Amsterdam performance in UK Fringe Review.

A View From The Street will close Budapest English Theatre’s current season. “I first saw the show at Amsterdam Fringe Festival and absolutely loved it,” said Virginia Proud, B.E.T.’s Artistic Director. “It’s such a brilliant concept, and I’m delighted that our audience will get a chance to see it.”

For Little, this is the last stop on his tour and he’s excited about the visit, “I’ve never been to Budapest before, so the opportunity to see the city and do the show here, I wasn’t going to say no.”

Budapest will be treated to three performances, kicking off at the uber-cool arts club, Brody Studios, and closing out in the laid back, alternative surrounds of Művelődési Szint (MÜSZI).
