Hungary's Szentendre Gets Painted Benches On Riverside Promenade
The charming tourist hotspot of Szentendre, north of Budapest, is enhancing its reputation as a town of art and artists with the custom-painted benches on the Danube proenade that appeared on Sunday morning. The benches will be put up for sale at the end of the summer.

The benches were made in cooperation between the local municipality and Dunaway Gallery with the aim of a new addition to the picturesque town’s list of attraction and raising money for charity when the benches will be sold off at auction at the end of the year.

The pieces of street furniture were made and supplid to artists Zsolt Dóró, Attila Nyakas, Norbert Szabó and Dániel Farkas – all members of the Dunaway Group – by SpaceVital Kft. The artists drew inspiration for their work from continuously playing music and poetry read out aloud while they were painting during an open-door community event.
