Green Number Plates Introduced In Hungary
Hungarian motorists with electric or hybrid vehicles may now apply for new green number plates, business daily Világgazdaság said. The National Development Ministry told the paper that motorists who replace their old number plates with the green plates would have to pay 8,500 forints (EUR 27).

It may be worthwhile waiting until the government decides on any preferences linked to the plates before weighing the cost against the benefits, it added.

Hungary’s recently drafted Jedlik Ányos Plan, a blueprint for the regulatory and support framework required for popularising electromobility, outlines incentives for electric vehicles such as the use of bus lanes, reduced parking and motorway fees, and tax breaks.

Such incentives could be introduced by the end of November.
