In August the Hungarian National Police Headquarters spent a total of almost HUF 300 million on the care of illegal immigrants. The funds were provided by the Government from the HUF 3.1 billion budget allocated for extra expenditure related to handling the increased influx of immigrants.

Contrary to statements by representatives of certain civil society organisations, care for illegal immigrants is adequate and uninterrupted; there are no shortages in food or water at the reception centres.
