András Giró-Szász Resigns As Govt Communications Chief
András Giró-Szász (pictured on the left) has handed in his resignation as state secretary for government communications at the prime minister’s office. Giró-Szász noted at Thursday’s government press briefing that a new ministry will be set up to manage government communications, and he had declined an offer by the ministry’s incoming head, Antal Rogán, to take the post of state secretary for government communications.

He added that the government office chief, János Lázár, offered him to stay on as a deputy head of the office but he declined.

Giró-Szász said Prime Minister Viktor Orbán had made a third proposal regarding his work in government, but it would be too soon to comment.

Asked about criticism of government communications by the (Fidesz) deputy parliamentary leader in charge of law-making, Gergely Gulyás, he said that “inexperience and a lack of knowledge together are pathetic, especially if paired with the lack of an ability to get the bigger picture.

” At the press briefing, Lázár said that he hoped that the “whole issue of state secretaries” will have been concluded by Friday.

He added that Orbán had asked him to maintain Thursday’s regular press briefings.
