Greenpeace Hungary: Ecofarming Offers Solution For Global Food Crisis
Ecofarming could be a solution for the global food crisis, a Greenpeace Hungary campaign manager said prior to the UN World Food Day. The main pillars of ecological farming include knowledge-intensive production, biodiversity, organic crop protection and support for rural producers, said Katalin Rodics, agricultural campaign manager for central and eastern Europe.

Food produced in ecological farming would be enough to feed up to 15 billion people, she said.

Gábor Üveges, the mayor of Hernádszentandrás, in north-eastern Hungary, said his village has been producing vegetables in organic farming for the past five years and has created the brand BioSzentandrás for promoting these products and the village.
