New Rules To Encourage Homeless To Go To Shelters
The government is planning to draft new rules under which social workers in the street would be obliged to convince rough sleepers to seek homeless shelters for the night. Károly Czibere, state secretary at the human resources ministry, told a press conference that the current law has a very vague definition of the perils facing the homeless.

Under the new rules, street workers “will not only have to assess the danger a homeless person while offering the option of a homeless shelter but they will be obliged to get rough sleepers to those facilities.”

The government is committed to reinforcing street social services for the homeless, and has decided to extend financing to 83 organisations providing such services until the end of next year, Czibere said.
