Ten Migrants Indicted Over Sept 16 Clashes With Hungarian Police
A Szeged prosecutor has charged ten people with violating Hungary’s border fence and entering the country illegally amid the September 16 clashes between migrants and police on the Hungarian-Serbian border near Röszke. A Csongrád County prosecutor’s office spokesman said nine Syrian and one Iraqi national have been charged with illegal entry.

On September 16, one day after Hungary sealed its border and tightened migration laws, a group of migrants clashed with police on the southern border after attempting to forcefully cross into Hungary from Serbia.

The indictment said one of the migrants charged attempted to rile up the crowd by shouting chants through a megaphone.

Some migrants knocked down the barricade protecting the border and entered Hungary illegally. The illegal entrants were arrested immediately.
