Varga, Korean Air Head Discuss Possibility Of Budapest-Seoul Direct Flight
Economy Minister Mihály Varga held talks with Korean Air chairman Chang Hoon Chi in South Korea the possibility of a direct flight between Seoul and Budapest, the economy ministry said. Korean Air is open to direct flights between the two capitals.

A direct flight would play a key role in boosting economic and tourism cooperation between Hungary and Korea. Annual airborne trade between the two countries amounts to around 80,000 tonnes, it said.

An air travel agreement reached between the two countries last May establishes the conditions necessary to launch such a flight.

Last year, 120,000 South Koreans visited Hungary, with South Korea being Hungary’s top tourism source market in Asia, the ministry said. Varga is in Korea with a delegation of business leaders.

On Thursday, he will co-chair the second meeting of the Hungarian-Korean Economic Cooperation Committee.
