'Fresh Meat' International Short Film Festival, Now On
The 4th Friss Hús International Short Film Festival opened on the 30th of March at Toldi cinema in downtown Budapest, and runs until 3rd April. The selection contains Hungarian and international short films from the last year. All the short films will be screened with English subtitles.

The international competition has 3 different selections, with short films like the winner of the 2016th Academy Award for Best Short Film, The Stutterer from the USA, and the last winner of the EFA Award for Best Short Film, Picnic from Croatia. Other films in the selections were competing at Sundance, at the Berlinale, and got selected for the official competition of the Cannes Film Festival.

There are 30 films in the Hungarian selection. Réka Bucsi’s LOVE is premiered for the first time in Hungary after the world premiere at the Berlinale and competing at the SXSW Film Festival in the USA. After the success of his previous short films, György Mór Kárpáti is premiering his new short film Student Union. The new short of Toronto alumnus Gábor Fabricius called Dialogue is also making its debut at Friss Hús.

Several short films were submitted from the film schools of Hungary: Budapest Metropolitan University, Eötvös Lóránd University, Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest, and the University of Theatre and Film Arts.

Continuing the tradition of the last years, the animated and live action short films are screened in the same selections, but receive seperate awards at the end. Three awards will be given away: Best Hungarian Live Action Short film, Best Animated Short Film, and Best International Short Film.

You can buy a pass, which is valid for all the screenings for 7250 HUF, or you can buy a single ticket for one selection, which is 1450 HUF.
