Budapest Council Supports Metro Line Upgrade
Budapest city council on Wednesday supported a contract between public transport company BKV and the Development Ministry on upgrading the M3 metro line with 28 affirmative votes and one abstention. The overall cost of the project on the north-south Pest line is Ft 139.5 billion.

Work could start in November on the northern section of the line between Lehel tér and Újpest-Központ station and simultaneously at the southern end between Kõbánya-Kispest and Nagyvárad tér.

Once work is finished on the southern and northern sections, the central section will be closed until it too is renovated.

While the work is ongoing shuttle buses will carry passengers between the closed stations.
