Govt Official: Internet VAT Could Be Reduced This Year
The government is planning to submit a proposal on reducing VAT on internet subscriptions by the end of the year, a government official told parliament.

Ákos Kara, state secretary at the national development ministry, addressing a debate on a proposal to amend the electronic communications law, said the government is committed to digital developments and its main aim is to ensure that everyone in the country, no matter where they live, has access to a good quality and affordable internet connection.

He noted another government aim to set up free WiFi points in every Hungarian town and village, in schools, universities and libraries. By 2018, every household should have access to a “super-fast” internet service, he added.
