Swimming Federation Backs Gyárfás
The Hungarian Swimming Federation’s annual general meeting gave a vote of confidence in president Tamás Gyárfás with 118 affirmative votes, against only one dissension and one abstention on Sunday. Gyárfás said in a speech to the gathering that no matter how unfair he considers the attacks of recent weeks, he feels that he must tolerate the slaps and cannot hide as his responsibility is so large.

Gyárfás has been president of the federation since 1993 and was re-elected for a five-year term last year.

The cabinet has spent over Ft 19 billion in the past two years on supporting prominent sports and the swimming federation leads the list with nearly Ft 3.7 billion, Népszabadság reports.
