Terror Museum Budapest Remembers Roma Heroes, Victims On Int’l Roma Day
The Roma heroes of Hungary’s 1956 anti-Soviet revolution and the Roma victims of the Holocaust will be remembered in the Budapest House of Terror museum on Friday, International Roma Day. Guests will launch a textbook presenting the history of the Roma Holocaust through personal accounts and memories to the Hungarian youth, director of research Márton Békés said.

The museum will show documentaries about the Roma heroes of the 1956 revolution throughout the day.

The heroes will also be presented to the public on several posters at tram stations across Budapest. Békés noted that 6-8% of those involved in the 1956 revolution were Roma, many of whom got murdered.

The events are organised in cooperation with the human resources ministry and the Roma Press Centre.
