Debut Concert: Chris & The Americana Project, Backstage Pub, 26 May
Local expat Christopher Mattheisen, Chairman & CEO at telco giant Magyar Telekom, plays music in his free time, and he recently invited XpatLoop to his new band's first gig. You might be interested too, as Chris & The Americana Project mix up rock, country, blues and folk in a way you might not have heard before, on some instruments you know - and some you might not. They're a collection of musicians brought together by a passion for a type of American music that they feel not enough people in Budapest have heard...yet!

Xpats are invited to rock up for this debut concert at the Backstage Pub (Városligeti fasor 44.) on May 26 at 7 pm., to see and hear Chris & The Americana Project play live for the first time.

For now here's an exclusive XpatLoop Q&A with Chris about music:

When did you start playing guitar, and singing, and why?
Age 15, to impress girls, but didn’t start singing until the age of 30.

What was the first tune you learned?
Play That Funky Music…an easy song.

Who are your main musical influences?
Lyle Lowett, and Elvis Costello...

Which musician do you admire most and why?
Lyle Lowett. I like him because the intelligent and witty way he mixes Country and Blues, in such a funny way.

Who are your favorite bands of all time?
The Band, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd.

What is your most treasured possession?
A Gibson L5 guitar.
