Uber To Be Regulated Not Banned
The government does not want to ban Uber, but rather to force terms on it equal to other taxi companies in Hungary, parliamentarian affairs state secretary of the Development Ministry János Fónagy said after meeting representatives of Uber on Tuesday.

The government is not against modern technology; none of the regulations were made to ban Uber or similar activities, Fónagy pointed out, adding that peak technology cannot be used as a shield for ignoring Hungarian regulations.

The European Commission has developed a Directive on the issue, which will be presented this week the Financial Times has learnt.

Taxi drivers did not hold their regular Tuesday demonstration against Uber on Tuesday, Magyar Idõk points out.
