The late author Péter Esterházy will be laid to rest on August 2, at his family’s shrine in the church of Ganna, a village in western Hungary. Funeral rites will be administered by Asztrik Várszegi, arch abbot of Pannonhalma. The family has asked mourners to contribute to the Foundation for Tumour Patients rather than bring flowers to the ceremony, publisher Magvető said. Esterházy died last Thursday, aged 66.
