Hungary Issues 5,245 Non-EU Work Permits In 2015
Some 5,245 permits to work were issued in Hungary last year to citizens of non-EU countries, Hungarian business daily Világgazdaság reported today based on data from the National Employment Service (NFSZ).

Excluding seasonal laborers, Ukrainians were issued the most permits, a total of 1,145, while 546 permits were issued to Serbians and 478 permits to Chinese citizens, the paper reported.

Although National Economy Minister Mihály Varga reportedly agreed on July 6 with a proposal put forward by national business association MGYOSZ to ease labor shortages in some sectors of the country by inviting foreign workers from outside of the European Union, Cabinet Chief János Lázár said on July 14 that the Hungarian government is not taking steps to invite labor from abroad to fill shortages.
