Bus Driver Beaten Up
A Budapest bus driver was beaten and severely injured on Wednesday after telling a group of passengers to buy tickets, the United Transport Union reported.

The passengers on bus line 95 then began to beat the driver with parts of seats that they had forcibly removed. The driver was hospitalised.

Union president Gábor Nemes said public transport company BKV has begun to design safe cabins for the drivers and install a well-functioning CCTV network, but he could not give an exact date.

The union is asking the city for immediate financial aid for new cabins and to approve tougher punishment for anyone who attacks drivers.
