French Culture In Bridging Europe Festival’s Spotlight
French culture will be in the spotlight at this year’s Bridging Europe festival to be held between Sept. 21 and Sept. 27 in the Budapest Palace of Arts (Müpa), the organisers said. The festival will offer unique concerts, literary and dance performances and films as well as feature international stars to illustrate how France has won inspiration from international art movements and integrated them with its own culture over the past centuries.

The bohemian Montmartre will be evoked by Ivan Fischer’s Budapest Festival Orchestra performing works by Ravel, Debussy, Eric Satie and Henri Dutilleux on Sept. 23-24-25.

On Sept. 21, multiple Oscar winning composer Michel Legrand will appear on stage at the evening dedicated to his compositions.

On Sept. 23, the Hungarian Krisztián Gergye Company’s live musical “Lautrec Shall Dance” will have its premiere. On the next day the fivemember world music group La Gapette will give a concert in Müpa.

The festival will close with a concert by jazz violinist Jean-Luc Ponty and his band.

During the festival an exhibition will present enlarged lithographs displayed on pillars in Müpa’s hall and another exhibition will show photos by Hungarian-born artist Lucien Hervé (László Elkán) in another hall.
