Official: Brussels Afraid Of Hungary Referendum
The European Union is afraid of Hungary’s October 2 referendum on migrant quotas and spares no effort to thwart it, Csaba Dömötör, state secretary at the prime minister’s cabinet office, said.

The EU officials’ remarks attacking the institution of referendum are “particularly shocking”. As the referendum is a fundamental institution of democracy, “we ask all EU leaders not to want to protect Europe from its citizens but take their concerns into account,” he said.

The referendum may even strengthen Europe and help it become capable of protecting its communities and culture, and guarantee security for its citizens, Dömötör said.
