Varga: Higher Education Must Adapt To Changing World
Higher education must be able to adapt to the changing world as well as to economic, labour market, R+D and innovation challenges, Economy Minister Mihály Varga said. Universities represent the basis of long-term and stable economic growth and social development, Varga said at the 235th year-opening ceremony of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics.

The minister said that only six years ago, Hungary was in a downward spiral but thanks to the reforms introduced since, new opportunities have opened.

The economy is growing and Hungary returning to the central European growth course. Hungary has repaid its external debt and its industrial output increasingly supports economic growth.

Further, there are more Hungarians holding jobs today than at any time during the past 26 years, Varga said.
