Economy Minister Holds Talks During Annual Meetings Of World Bank, IMF
The Hungarian economy minister met the heads of several international financial institutions as well as representatives of investor groups on the occasion of the annual meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund in Washington, DC, on Saturday, his ministry said.

Mihály Varga held talks with Cyril Muller, the World Bank’s vice president for Europe and Central Asia. The two officials reviewed matters at hand involving Hungary and the World Bank as well as the topic of international migration.

He also met Sir Danny Alexander, the vice president of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and they discussed the AIIB’s expansion and Hungary’s possible accession.

At the invitation of IMF director Poul Thomsen, Varga participated at a meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors from central eastern and south-eastern Europe to discuss the global as well as regional economies and exchange outlooks and ideas.

Varga discussed the growth outlook for Hungary with representatives from several international credit rating agencies and financial institutions.

He also participated at an investors’ conference organised by the Bank of America.
