Hungarian Government To Set Up Taxi Watchdog
The Hungarian government is planning to set up a body operating under the aegis of the National Transport Authority (NKH), which will be responsible for monitoring and controlling those offering personal and goods transport services, Hungarian daily Világgazdaság reported.

The new body has not been named, nor the size of staff it will employ, however recruitment has already started. The Hungarian government is planning a budget of HUF 615 million for the body this year, according to the daily, and a budget of HUF 995 mln in 2017.

The new body, which is foreseen to operate 24/7, aims to ensure that related regulations are successfully implemented. The paper reported that the body’s concept was established in May, for controlling the operations of Uber, the ride-sharing app operator which has since left the country.
