Justice Minister Discusses Migration In Beirut
The Hungarian justice minister discussed migration related issues during his official visit to Beirut, his ministry said. László Trócsányi met his Lebanese counterpart, Ashraf al-Rifi, who invited him for the visit, and briefed him on topical issues related to migration and the migrant policy of Hungary and the European Union.

He also briefed his colleague on Hungary’s Oct. 2 national referendum on mandatory EU migrant quotas. The Lebanese minister gave the Hungarian minister an outline of the situation of the about 1.5 million migrants living in Lebanon’s territory.

They agreed that an effective solution to the migrant issue would be to resolve the conflicts in the Middle East, the ministry said, adding that Trócsányi stated Hungary’s commitment to stability in the region and pledged as much support as permitted by reserves.

The Hungarian minister also held talks with Jean Fahed, chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council, and gave a talk about Hungary’s migration related measures before judges at the supreme court of Beirut, the ministry said.

Trócsányi, who arrived on a four-day visit to Lebanon on Thursday, signed a cooperation agreement between south Hungary’s Szeged University and Beirut’s Saint Joseph University on student exchanges.
