Gyárfás Throws In The Towel
Tamás Gyárfás announced on Thursday that he will not run for re-election to the post of president of the Hungarian Swimming Federation at its general meeting on January 8.

He announced on November 30 that he would resign after 23 years in the position, but did not officially tender his resignation until December 14 and will stay on as interim president until January 8.

To date, only government commissioner for tourism Gusztáv Bienerth has applied for the post, supported by state secretary for sports Tünde Szabó.

He is also supported by Olympic champion swimmers Dániel Gyurta and Ágnes Kovács, as well as Katinka Hosszú, whose complaints about the federation under Gyárfás led to his resignation.
