PM Lays Cornerstone For Ft 40bn Track
Prime Minister Viktor Orbán laid a foundation stone for the test track for self-driving cars in Zalaegerszeg on Friday. The estimated cost of the facility, sprawling on 250-hectares, is Ft 40 billion and is expected to be ready by the end of 2019.

With this investment “Hungary will propel itself onto the world map of auto industry R&D and testing and take a step towards becoming the auto industry hub of central Europe,” Orbán said.

“We can be proud that we are capable of producing Mercedes, Audi and Suzuki cars but we would like these to be designed and developed, at least in part, and if possible tested in full, here," the prime minister added. A decision on financing the construction of that road will be made within days, Orbán said.

The project will create 350 engineering jobs.
