Campus Festival: Cubes, Musicians, Jubilee In Debrecen, 19 - 23 July
This year the festival is celebrating its 10th anniversary and will be open from 19 to 23 July with programs worthy of a jubilee. Exciting and diverse offerings at the Great Forest (Nagyerdő) – organizers announced at the official press conference of the festival at Red & White, a club inside the Nagyerdei Stadium.

The jubilee event will have seventeen program locations including two major stages. The four day long event will have a stronger cultural tone than ever before with 252 music programs plus 300 non-musical programs: dances, Stand-up comedy acts, theatre, public and literary conversations. In addition to the most popular Hungarian acts, the festival will feature The Prodigy, Lukas Graham, Alle Farben, the Dutch hit makers Bingo Players and the most popular Euro Dance couple of the nineties: 2 Unlimited.

As for the Hungarian music scene, Campus is going to present all the great bands from mainstream to emerging and brand-new productions.

Everyone knows the recurring bands including Tankcsapda, Quimby, Halott Pénz, Kowalsky meg a Vega, Brains, Magdi Rúzsa, Vad Fruttik, Paddy and the Rats, Ganxsta Zolee & the Kartel, Majka & Curtis, but it is worth considering the newest acts even more than ever before. Lóci Játszik, Fatal Error, Mörk, Jónás Vera Experiment, Dope Calypso, Middlemist Red, Szabó Benedek és a Galaxisok and the youngest ones, including The Luckies, Platon Karataev (their song Elevator became a massive hit this year) and the indie-folk singer-songwriter Zanzinger will be in Debrecen as well.

Campus Festival is also unique for its homely character and because of the presence of the University of Debrecen. This year there will be Universty Square (Egyetem tér) from Day Zero onwards, near to the main entrance on a 2000 square meters area.

The Csokonai Theater will build its own space for the first time, they will have two performances each evening. Debrecen Startup Roundtable is promising exciting discussions, while at the Job Street -which is also a new spot on the festival – festival goers can look around and find out where it would be worthwhile to get a new job.

The Nagyerdei Stadium – which will be available to walk around for the first time during the festival – is not only an ideal location for concert venues, but also because there is not yet a festival where so many cultured, indoor washbasins serve the comfort of the festival goers.

At the main entrance of the festival there will be a big bicycle storage room and a luggage storage facility as well. For even more convenience, Campus will have its own LIDL store inside the festival area.
Campus Festival was launched in 2008, attracting more than 530.000 visitors in ten years, where lovers were engaged and marriages were born.

At the first year 27.000 festivalgoers had fun, this year the organizers hope to cross the magical 100.000 milestone. There are spectacular developments in the program offering as well: while the first Campus had only four major locations, now there will be seventeen. Guest of the press conference included local heroes Tankcsapda, Honeybeast singer Zsófi Tarjáni, Jimmy from Kowalsky meg a Vega, members of Paddy & the Rats and Ganxsta Zolee.

The latter joked that it’s not the festival where he met Tankcsapda frontman Laci Lukács, but it was certainly in Debrecen. And he is very grateful to the city for this relationship. In addition to the musicians, TV personality Csaba Azurák is preparing for his very first festival performance, but of course without any instrument in his hand.

He would like to talk with the festival goers about public issues However, his visit will be longer than he originally planned: „When my daughters saw the program of the festival, they said they wanted to come with me, so I’m going to be here with my daughters for the first time.”

Campus will also have a great deal of interest: the world premiere of the new, advanced and interactive version of the world-famous Rubik Cube will be held at the festival. The already mentioned guests had already tried the new cube at the press conference, but the real test will begin on Wednesday, July 19 at the Great Forest.
