Hungary Authority Warns Of African Swine Fever Near Border
The National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) on Tuesday warned of an occurrence of African swine fever (ASF), a disease with a near 100 percent fatality rate in pigs, just 20 kilometres from the Hungarian border.

An occurrence of ASF was registered in Berehuifalu (Beregújfalu), Ukraine, Nébih said.

A number of cases of ASF have been registered as well in Poland, the Czech Republic, Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania in recent months, the authority added. No cases of ASF have been discovered in Hungary. it said.

Nébih urged compliance with all rules and advice on preventing the spread of the virus. Lists of prevention measures can be found on Nébih’s website.
