Government Steadfast Amid Mounting Pressure On Hungary To Comply With EU Migration Policy
The Hungarian government is steadfast in its opposition to EU mandatory migrant quotas in the face of mounting pressure on the country, including the European Union infringement procedure initiated in June and threats to curb funding unless Hungary falls in line, a cabinet official said on Thursday.

“The ever more forceful pressure is in vain; the government’s stance won’t change,” cabinet state secretary Csaba Dömötör said in a statement.

The situation that has emerged in the EU’s southern countries presents serious risks to Hungary, too, he said. Yet Brussels is still forcing the distribution of migrants arriving in Europe among member states.

In order to see this plan through, Hungary is being put under great pressure, he added.

The infringement procedure was launched against Hungary, Poland, and the Czech Republic for their refusal to accept refugees as part of the quota plan.
