Kádár-Era Vampire Comedy Planned
Comrade Drakulics, a vampire comedy set in the Kádár era, will go into production in October for release one year later. In the story, set in the 1970s, a vampire visits Hungary from the West and attracts the notice of state security agents.

Love unfolds between him and the young female comrade who has been entrusted to recruit him, during the secret service surveillance, according to the Film Foundation website.

It adds: “the romantic comedy blends elements of spy and vampire films and portrays the Kádár era in a new light”.

The director is Márk Bodzsár and the lead actor is Zsolt Nagy.

The Foundation is contributing Ft 449 million to the production.
