Kovács Dismisses Report In German Press About Quota Deal
Government spokesman Zoltán Kovács has dismissed a report in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung suggesting that Prime Minister Viktor Orbán may be open to a compromise deal on refugee distribution after the 2018 Hungarian general election.

FAZ said on Sunday that the idea of “flexible solidarity” introduced by the Visegrad Group suggested that Orbán might adopt a more cooperative attitude after next year’s Hungarian election.

Kovács said there was no truth in the report. Out of principle, Hungary rejects the relocation of asylum seekers based on a quota, he added.

“A free country like Hungary cannot allow others to decide who should enter its territory,” he said.
