Supreme Court Validates Local Referendum On Római Mobile Levee In Óbuda
The Kúria, Hungary’s supreme court, has overridden a decision by the Metropolitan Election Commission and validated a referendum question on the construction of a mobile levee on the banks of the Danube near Budapest, according to the ruling published on the Kuria website on Tuesday.

Two liberal politicians, András Béres of the Dialogue party and Márton Pataki of the Együtt party, lodged a petition as private individuals with a view to getting decision to build a mobile levee on the Római banks of the river, arguing that the levee could be further inland, thereby sparing the local environment.
