Metro Lines M2 & M4 To Operate Later At Weekends
Budapest transport service is extending the timetable to suit party people as of December 1st. Metro lines 2 and 4 will run for an extra hour on Fridays and Saturdays, providing more convenient options for party people. “Budapest has an increasingly bustling nightlife, and in recent years the number of tourists in the city has been on the rise, resulting in more passengers using late-night transport services,” said a BKK spokesperson.

Currently the last cars leave from each terminal before midnight seven nights a week. With the launch of this new weekend timetable the last underground trains will depart from M2's Örs vezér tere and Déli pályaudvar stations, and the Keleti pályaudvar and Kelenföld vasútállomás stations of the M4 at 00:30am.

“Night services are most popular on Fridays and Saturdays, when plenty of people travel after midnight in the city center. BKK is expanding its transport alternatives for these busy nights,” said BKK.

During the night time operating hours, the underground on these two lines will run every ten minutes. This new schedule does not affect the operating hours of tram 6 that runs along the Grand Boulevard round-the-clock. Similarly, the schedule of the city’s night buses remains unchanged.
