A pro-government analyst sees the juridical erudition of the President elected by the parliamentary majority on Monday as a guarantee against mistaken decisions.
Civil groups organised a demonstration in support of victims of child abuse and for “a healthy society” at Heroes’ Square in downtown Budapest on Friday evening.
The opposition Democratic Coalition will submit a public-interest data request and file a lawsuit asking for access to documents in connection with the clemency case of the former deputy head of the Bicske children’s home, Olga Kálmán, the spokesperson of the party’s parliamentary group, said, adding that people had a right to know “how the accomplice of the paedophile head of the children’s home” could have been pardoned.
Given Katalin Novák signed her letter of resignation earlier this week, MPs have to decide within fifteen days whether to accept it or not, and so this decision could be taken on Feb 26, the first day of the spring session, the parliamentary group leader of Fidesz said.
