Liberty Bridge To Be Closed For Cars On Four Weekends
Liberty bridge will be closed for traffic again for four weekends in the summer to let pedestrians take the entire bridge and picnic there if they wish, deputy mayor Alexandra Szalay-Bobrovniczky said at a press briefing on Wednesday.

She said the project was launched in 2016 as a grassroots initiative. The four weekends will fall between July 14 and August 5.

    Budapest’s police chief has banned demonstrators from blocking the city’s bridges, according to a statement on the city police’s website police.hu. In a final ruling citing the law on the right of assembly, Budapest police chief Gábor Bucsek said that such a demonstration would obstruct traffic between the two sides of the city and would therefore breach the rights of the citizens.
