Resources Ministry Mulls Raising Home Care Fees
The Human Resources Ministry will launch talks with trade organisations and civil groups on plans to raise allowances for people who take care of their sick family members, the ministry said in a statement on Friday, adding that a relevant proposal was likely to be completed in autumn.

The government’s position is that “the effort of people ready to take care of an ailing family member at home must be appreciated”, the statement said. The ministry noted that “unlike the austerity of (earlier) left-liberal governments” the incumbent government has raised home care fees by 63% since 2010.

They added that the government has also arranged that a social security tax should be deducted from the fees, ensuring a higher pension for recipients.

Currently people in charge of sick family members receive a monthly net amount between 29,340 and 52,812 forints (EUR 90-162) from state coffers.
