EC Faults Hungary For Falling Behind On Recycling Targets
The European Commission said in a report this week that Hungary has missed its recycling targets “by a considerable margin” since 2012. Hungary was among 14 European Union member states the EC said are at risk of missing the target for recycling half of all waste by 2020, but the country was singled out, together with Malta, for the most sizeable shortfalls.

The EC has made proposals to help the 14 member states meet their targets.

In a follow-up to the report, it will also visit the member states “to discuss the opportunities and challenges” with authorities and stakeholders.
