Rat Population Rising In Budapest
The rat population in Budapest multiplied rapidly earlier this year, as weeks went by between the expiry of the city’s contract with exterminators and the signing of a new contract with a different company.

Mátyás Reisinger, the CEO of the consortium of four exterminator companies, told Inforádió on Tuesday that they have been exterminating rats in Budapest since July 19 but at the time of the transition they had not worked officially for a few weeks.

The company receives about 1,000 complaints about rats every month, he said.

Rats have been thriving along riverbeds due to the low level of the Danube this year.
