Fewer Food & Beverage Vending Machines In Hungary
The number of food vending machines fell to around 20,000 from 35,000 in the last 18 months, due to rising fees, Magyar Hírlap reports.

Since July 2018 only those food and beverage vending machines can operate legally that are equipped with registers that transmit data on turnover to the tax authority.

Magyar Posta is responsible for the installation, operation and connection of these units with the tax office as a monitoring service provider.

Vending machine operators have to pay a net Ft 5,000 monthly fee per machine in addition to the Ft 20,000 annual monitoring fee.

Automatic vending federation NASZ says the fees constitute an annual 7-10% extra cost, and proposed a reduction of the latter fee to that of the fees paid by retailers for online cash registers.

The average monthly turnover of vending machines is Ft 100,000.
