Coronavirus: Number Of Cases Rises To 50 In Hungary
The number of people infected with coronavirus in Hungary has increased to 50.

More Hungarian citizens and a foreigner have been exposed to the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), bringing the number of people diagnosed in Hungary to 50.

As dr. Cecília Müller, the National Chief Medical Officer, announced on Monday, we are entering to the second phase of the epidemic, when, after individual infections, the spread of the virus has begun.

In Hungary, the number of newly diagnosed coronavirus infections has reached 50, including 9 Iranian, 1 British, 1 Kazakh and 39 Hungarian citizens. On Monday, the second Iranian healed also left the hospital.

16 March:

The number of people infected with coronavirus in Hungary has increased to 39.

Seven more people have tested positive for the coronavirus infection (COVID-19), raising the number of people diagnosed in Hungary to 39.

Of the 39 people diagnosed with Covid-19 in Hungary so far,  29 are Hungarian citizens, 9 of them Iranian,  and 1 British - one person died.

15 March:

More Hungarian citizens have been diagnosed tby the coronavirus infection (COVID-19), bringing the number of people diagnosed in Hungary to 32.

Of the 32 people diagnosed with Covid-19 in Hungary so far,  22 are Hungarian citizens, 9 of them Iranian,  and 1 British.

14 March - evening: 

Since the morning data, another 5 Hungarian citizens have been diagnosed with a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), increasing the number of people diagnosed in Hungary to 30.

Among new patients  are some who have recently been to Italy, some who are suspected to have been infected by a family member who visited Austria, and some who have been previously identified through contact research.

Of the 30 people diagnosed with Covid-19 in Hungary so far,  20 are Hungarian citizens, 9 of them Iranian,  and 1 British.

14 March - morning:
Hungary’s government information website koronavirus.gov.hu on Saturday confirmed another six cases of the new coronavirus, bringing the number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the country to 25.

All the new virus cases are Hungarian citizens.

The authorities have started investigating whom the six Hungarians may have been in contact with, the website said.

Of the 25 people diagnosed with Covid-19 in Hungary so far, 15 are Hungarian citizens, nine are Iranians, and one is British.

The number of people in quarantine is still 79 while the health authority has done tests on 1014 samples, the website said.

So far, one coronavirus patient has fully recovered.


13 March:
Another three patients have tested positive for the new coronavirus, bringing the number of confirmed cases to 22 in Hungary, the head of the emergency centre of the team in charge of efforts against the epidemic reported on Thursday.

Tibor Lakatos said that the three new patients have been hospitalised and are in good physical condition. He added that the new cases were isolated and the team were focusing efforts to prevent epidemic centres from forming.

Lakatos said that so far 11,437 Hungarian nationals returning from other countries have been checked on, and 166 have been ordered to isolate themselves at home.

A foreign national, who was suspected to be infected with coronavirus, has been taken to hospital, while 204 people were denied entry at border crossing points, he said.

At present, the operative team sees no reason for closing down any municipality in the country, Lakatos said.

13 March:
The number of people infected with the new coronavirus diagnosed in Hungary rose to 19. Three Hungarian men have been diagnosed with the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19).

A 67 year old Hungarian man who, due to his work regularly meets foreigners.

A 41-year-old Hungarian man who has been recently in the Netherlands and England.

The third one is a 27-year-old Hungarian man who was connected to the Hungarian infected person who visited Israel.

In line with the protocol issued by the National Chief Medical Officer, investigation into their prior whereabouts and personal contacts over the past two weeks will start immediately.

The number of people in quarantine is 79, the health authority has done tests on 858 samples, Hungary’s government information website koronavirus.gov.hu said.

Of the 19 people diagnosed with Covid-19 in Hungary so far, nine are Iranian citizens, nine are Hungarian and one is British.
