Covid Update: Death Toll In Hungary Passes 15,000
4,326 new cases were confirmed. The number of people infected with the coronavirus in Hungary now stands at 432,925. The number of deaths stands at 15,058 while the number of those recovered now stands at 322,956.

94,911 is the number of active infected, 5,679 patients are hospitalized, 537 of them are on ventilators.

So far, 685,247 people have been vaccinated, of which 251,691 have already received their second vaccination.

GPs continue to vaccinate with the Chinese Sinopharm vaccine, each GP can vaccinate an average of 50 to 55 registered elderly people, and they continue to vaccinate chronic patients under the age of 60 with the AstraZeneca vaccine, which can vaccinate 10 people per practice. Vaccination of registered elderly people with the Pfizer vaccine is also continued at hospital vaccination points.

We are in the ascending branch of the third wave of the epidemic, so protection measures are still in place and travel rules have become stricter. In order for more people to receive the first vaccination as soon as possible, the vaccination strategy has been modified, the use of Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines has been changed, and GPs are receiving additional support for weekend vaccinations. Another shipment of Russian vaccine is already on its way.

Like many European countries, Hungary was hit by the third wave of the epidemic so the government has extended the protection measures currently in force until 15 March, and is of the opinion that if the epidemiological situation allows, the restrictions can only be lifted gradually and responsibly.
