Hungarian Researcher Karikó to Receive Franklin Medal
Katalin Karikó and co-researcher Drew Weissman will be among scientists recognised with next year’s Benjamin Franklin Medals for their achievement in life sciences, the Philadelphia-based Franklin Institute announced on its website.

The two scientists will receive the award “for fundamental research enabling the use of mRNA as a safe, effective, and life-saving vaccine platform for the prevention of infectious disease, including COVID-19”, the website said.

The award ceremony is planned for May 5 next year.
