Breaking: Sziget Festival Budapest Now Cancelled In 2021
“We, the organisers of Sziget, believe that it is our common responsibility to work together for the safety of everyone to survive this stressful period,” the festival’s management team just announced, adding “For the sake of our performers, staff and attendees, the festival will return in the summer of 2022.”

At least some good news for those who already purchased tickets for Sziget 2020 is that they will be automatically valid for 2022.

As we reported earlier, the related festivals of VOLT and Balaton Sound will not happen this year, now this is the first official word with regards to Sziget 2021 not happening – below is the ‘after movie’ from Sziget in 2019 for everyone now missing that special festival feeling.

"With sadness in our hearts … seeing the amount of uncertainty around travelling, accommodation and the domestic and international role of immunity certificates, we have made the decision to prepare for next year’s Sziget instead,” Tamás Kádár, the festival’s chief organiser, said about cancelling the week of music, culture, and other events held on an island in the Danube.

He added that the now two-year period without a festival had made life difficult for all players involved in the event.

Organisers said they were hoping to schedule programmes for 2022 that would be worthy of the “grand comeback” the festival planned to make.
